the popover sundress in sew hip
Sew Hip, a new sewing magazine in the UK, commissioned an Oliver + S pattern for its most recent issue. (Yes, that’s it on the cover–shown with Martha the chicken). The pattern, called the Popover Sundress, is a simple pull-on dress with bias straps that tie at the shoulder.
The pattern is fun to make because it’s very easy to sew and gives you the option to add lace, rickrack, or a ruffle to the yoke. The adjustable straps make it an especially versatile pattern that would be cute as a swimsuit cover-up this summer or as a dressier garment if made in fabrics like linen or silk. It would even be appropriate over a blouse or shirt when the weather gets cooler.

Other than the mag, is there another way of getting a copy of this pattern? I am in Qld, Australia and haven’t got access to the mag. Any chance of a PDF or tutorial on your blog please? I love your style and can’t tell you how pleased i am to have discovered your patterns:)

You can order single issues from their webpage, even internationally. They use paypal and it auto-converts the currency for you. I just ordered it, looking forward to getting my copy in the mail.

It is cheaper than the cover price and you can get it without the wait of mail. Hi! I got my magazine a couple weeks ago and have been dying to do this for my daughter. So I finally thought I'd do it last night but found out that the pattern was for size #3 and I want to do a size #4 so she can wear it next year, too. I'm still a bit new to sewing even if I've managed to sew the Lazy Days skirt and a couple pair of shorts for my twins but have never resized a pattern before. Any helpful hints/tips you can share? Thanks in advance.
Arlyna, the pattern is graded to sizes 6 months through size 8 in the magazine, so there's no need to re-size it. All sizes are there and ready to use. Cheers!
