Hi Liesl-
I am about to embark on making this coat in a lovely chocolate/grey wool melton. But I have a question. My plan for the lining all along in my head has been sherpa (organic from Micheal Miller). Do you think I will face problems because it is too thick to sew with for the lining? I am trying to make a very very warm coat.

Thanks for any info.

I am so excited to see patterns in size 8 for my little girl! Keep extending your sizes up because she is almost in a 10 and we love your designs! (I'd buy adult patterns too!)

Hi liesl-
the latest ottobre suggested buying wool knit and lightly felting it for use in coats...there are many colors of wool knit at Nature's Fabrics online, this may open the gates for creativity and color choices....Katja

Norasroom, thanks for the link! Lots of good stuff there. And Heather, I've never seen such a fabric. Wow, I'm really curious about that! April, the first fabric is lighter in weight than the others--it's a thinner tweed, rather than a true wool coating. I can't recall ever seeing a heavier tweed, but that does sound like it would be a nice fabric. Thanks, everyone!

I am trying to decide if this fabric is worth investing in:
http://www.seattlefabrics.com/wool_laminate_colors.htm

I can probably get two seasons out of a coat for my son, so I am thinking that since it is so so rainy here in the northwest, this fabric might be the best choice :)

oh, I luuuurve these. So much. Especially the first one. I'd like to see someone repurpose an old men's jacket into one of these. (maybe even me!)

I'm going to make mine out of fleece and then make add some insul-bright into the quilted lining to make it super warm.

The fleece coat will be plenty for fall, and I hope that with the liner it will be enough for Boston winters!

Just waiting for that pattern to come... still! Slow mail is driving me crazy!
