saturday at the New York Public Library
Everyone had a great time on Saturday. And so many of you attended! Thank you, everyone who came. It’s always lots of fun to meet other crafters and to get to know you. Many of you had cameras, too, so I’m hoping to see some photos of the event.
Heather showed us the most amazing illustrated books of field flowers and fish (as well as a mermaid!), and Denyse shared some old quilt books and contemporary art as inspiration. I was happy to display those fashion plates I showed you on Friday, along with some materials that have been inspiring me for some soon-to-be-announced projects.
I told you we had a beautiful room? I neglected to ask anyone to take photos, so these pictures were taken by S on our way out.

just wanted to share that I've been a fan of your blog for about a year and a half, and eagerly look forward to each new season to see what new patterns you release. in fact, it was your blog that inspired me to get a better machine and learn how to sew. so imagine my great surprise – and delight! – when this past weekend I was paging through the latest "Spark" issue, and came across your article! I had no idea that you were a Calvin alum, and in fact, graduated only two years ahead of me! When I excitedly called my husband over to show him the article and the picture of your family, he said he recognized your husband from some classes. So happy and excited to see such great talent emerge from our little liberal arts college – and now I have even a greater interest/fondness for Oliver and S!
Thanks for writing, Lucinda. Our copy of the magazine just arrived this afternoon–I always look forward to seeing it and what other alumni are doing. So glad we've made a connection. Happy sewing!
