It's October again, which means one thing: Quilt Market. We're looking forward to catching up with many of you next weekend in Houston.
This month's newsletter previews the exciting products we are debuting at Market: a new fabric collection, the first Oliver + S book, and our new patterns for Spring 2011.
If you're attending Schoolhouse, please join us on October 29 at 3:45 PM in room 382A to learn more about these new offerings. And during the show stop by booth 1920 to see us.
Cheers,
Liesl

We will be debuting our second fabric collection with Moda, Modern Workshop, in Houston.
Modern Workshop takes its inspiration from the Wiener Werkstatte. Based in Vienna at the turn of the twentieth century, this circle of artists and craftspeople reacted against the industrial revolution's mass production of homewares by creating unique, beautiful objects that are noted today for their enduring quality and their sophisticated design sensibility.
The collection includes 32 prints in both floral and geometric motifs that make use of a fresh, twenty-first-century color palette. With Modern Workshop, contemporary quilters and seamstresses can create their own handcrafts that stand apart from the mass-produced items filling our store shelves today.
Modern Workshop includes quilting cottons that have a hand you have to feel to believe, luxurious interlock knits, and new PU-coated laminates that meet CPSIA standards for use in children's clothing.
A word of advice: we've received several calls this month from distressed retailers who haven't been able to get our first collection, City Weekend, into their shops because most of the line sold out prior to the fabric's ship date. Please understand that Moda only produces enough yardage to fill preorders received at Market and in the weeks immediately after. So if you are interested in Modern Workshop, don't wait until the fabric is ready to ship. Place your order at Market or contact your local Moda sales rep during November to ensure that you will be able to get yardage next spring.

We're pleased to announce that our first book, "Oliver + S Little Things to Sew" will be published by STC Craft - Melanie Falick Books in March, 2011.
Featuring 20 full-length sewing projects, this book brings the style and attention to detail you've come to expect from Oliver + S to the world of accessories and toys for children.
The book has been developed by the same great team that produces our patterns. Dan Andreasen illustrated the projects, and Brooke Reynolds designed the book. The book also includes wonderful photos by Laurie Frankel of children modeling the finished projects.
We will have pre-press copies of the book to show at our booth during Market. Both United Notions and Checker will feature displays of projects from the book in their booths. You will be able to place preorders for the book (which ships next February) from United Notions and Checker at the show.

And last, but not least, we will be previewing three new patterns for Spring 2011. These patterns will be released to coincide with the shipping of Modern Workshop.
The Seashore Sundress features button straps, princess seams, and two almost-invisible little pockets at the dropped waist skirt which are perfect for stashing tiny treasures.
The Family Reunion Dress is a charming, classic dress pattern that features pintucked pleats at the front and back, a choice of button tab or ruffle embellishment at the front, and a sweet neckline.
The Class Picnic Blouse & Shorts pattern provides comfortable and cute elastic-waist shorts including contrast trim, mock-wrap styling, and a faux fly. The raglan-sleeve pull-on blouse includes gathers at the yokes, elastic at the shoulders, three-quarter-length sleeves, and wide hems.
Stop by our booth to see these new styles and to place your preorder.
To give you and your customers a place to show off projects made with our now-shipping City Weekend fabric collection, we've created a new Flick group especially for that purpose.
Stop by to see what others are doing with the fabric, and to share photos of your own projects when they're done. As always, we love to see what you and your customers make from our products!
